What You Need to Know About Shade at Wrigley Field
For many baseball fans, a trip to Wrigley Field is a pilgrimage. Wrigley’s unique “jewel box” architecture provides some of the best natural shade in Major League Baseball. There is arguably more shaded seats available than seats in the sun.

The 300 Level: The Crown Jewel
If you ask a Wrigley regular where to sit, they’ll almost always point you to the 300 level (Upper Deck Box).
These sections offer the perfect elevation to see the entire field and are shielded by the 400-level roof above.
Sections 315 through 322 are the “prime” territory. You get the breeze, the shade, and you don’t have to worry about the support pillars blocking your view of home plate (more on the below!).
The 200 Level “Trap”
The 200 level (Terrace Level) is the most shaded area in the park because it is entirely tucked under the upper deck. However, it comes with a catch: the pillars.
To stay in the shade but keep your view, target rows 1 through 6. These “front of the terrace” seats give you the overhead cover you need without the frustration of a steel beam blocking the pitcher’s mound. If you go further back than Row 8, you are guaranteed shade, but you might spend the game leaning left and right to see around a pole.
The “No-Go” Zones
If shade is your priority, the bleachers are off-limits. While the “Bleacher Creatures” offer an iconic Wrigley experience, they do so under a baking sun with virtually zero protection. Similarly, avoid the lower rows of the 100 level on the first-base side. These seats act as a sun-trap for the entire afternoon.
