What You Need to Know About Shade at JetBlue Park at Fenway South
JetBlue Park at Fenway South is the Spring Training home of the Boston Red Sox. Opened in 2012, the stadium features many of the same characteristics as the original Fenway Park, including a Green Monster in left field with seating both on top of and behind the wall.
A defining feature of the park is its unique undulating roof, which provides significant structural shade while allowing for Florida’s coastal breezes to circulate through the grandstands.

How Shade Actually Works Here
The stadium is oriented with the batter facing northeast. During a typical 1:05 PM or 1:35 PM game, the sun is high and begins its move behind the grandstand.
Because of the ” Fenway-style” design and the massive wavy canopy, the upper rows in the 200-level are almost always under shade.
The 200-Level is Best for Shade
For guaranteed relief from the Florida sun, the upper rows of the 200-level is the premier choice.
-
Under the Canopy of 200 – 219: These are your best bets for immediate shade at first pitch. Even numbered sections are on third base (Red Sox dugout) and odd are on first.
-
Behind Home Field-Level 101 – 104: Fans who want to be closer can look to go behind home plate as the canopy extends close to the field. Stick to the upper rows
-
Green Monster: The ultimate fan experience is sitting at the Monster! Keep in mind, however, that there will be a net that might be distracting to some people. Stick to the last row to get better shade.

Afternoon and Evening Games at Fenway South
Unless you are in the 200-level or the very back of the 100-level, you will likely be in full sun for at least the first few innings in the afternoon.
However, for 4:00 PM or 6:00 PM starts, the stadium becomes much more forgiving as the shadows from the grandstand stretch across the entire field, leaving almost all seating areas in comfortable shade.
