Located in downtown Columbus, Ohio, within the vibrant Astor Park development, ScottsMiracle-Gro Field is the state-of-the-art open-air home of the Columbus Crew.

Opened in 2021 as Lower.com Field and renamed in late 2025, the soccer-specific venue seats over 20,000 fans and features an incredibly intimate layout. One of its standout architectural features is a continuous canopy roof designed to trap noise inside while protecting fans from the elements.

The stadium is known for its incredible atmosphere, particularly from the passionate Nordecke supporter group located in the north end zone.

The West Sideline and South Goal Are Best For Shade

The orientation of the stadium means the sun tracks behind the home side toward the evening. Because of this, you want to prioritize the west sideline and covered seating.

• Sections 112 – 122 Upper Rows: Opting for the top rows on the west side gives you immediate relief from overhead daylight, as the stadium structure blocks out the sun long before it reaches the lower rows closer to the pitch.

• Sections 203 – 209: Booking these seats opposite behind the south goal allows you to track the entire tactical flow of the match comfortably out of the elements without any direct exposure during later kickoffs.

• Sections 232 – 244: On the east side, if you stick to the last 2-3 rows in the upper section, you could get some sun protection. Keep in mind, however, that you will most likely be looking into the sun during the match for the early part of the afternoon.

Late Afternoon And Evening

As a late afternoon match progresses, the massive shadow from the western grandstand roof expands smoothly eastward across the natural grass pitch. The entire west sideline and the south end zone drop into cool, complete shadow well before the final whistle.

Meanwhile, the lower rows of the east sideline continue to capture the final direct rays of the day, until the sun sinks low enough behind the western suites and press box structures to bring a uniform twilight across the entire seating bowl.
